歌詞の意味
最後の夜だから笑って飲もうと提案し、相手には似合わない言い訳を止めさせる。表面では冷静に別れを進めようとしているのに、夕暮れがドラマのように見えた瞬間、隠していた寂しさがあふれる。「泣いて」を五度重ねた後の「忘れるの」は、決意にも疑問にも聞こえる。大量の涙を流せば記憶を洗い流せると言い聞かせながら、本当は忘れられる確信がない。
二番で同じ反復は過去への仮定に変わる。やり直す機会は何度もあったのに、会えば素直になれず、愛し合いながらすれ違った。「あの時に泣いたら」という悔いは、涙を弱さとして抑えたことが、かえって本心を届かなくしたと気づいた言葉だ。あの時泣けていれば愛は続いたのかと問い、最後は再び「あなたを忘れる」現在へ戻る。涙は忘却の手段であると同時に、失った関係を救えたかもしれない言葉でもあり、その二つの意味の間で別れの夜が終わらず揺れている。
