鳥居の先に並ぶ夜店、太鼓と笛、石段で分けたりんご飴。祭りの景色は賑やかな現在として始まりますが、音や灯りに触れるたび、かつて浴衣ではしゃいでいた「君」の記憶が戻ってきます。りんご飴の甘さと脆さは、そのまま永遠だと信じていた二人の日々へ重なっています。浴衣の金魚が泳ぎ出す表現では、止まっていた記憶まで祭りの熱に動かされます。
相手の幸せを願いながら、語り手の目は人の流れを追い、いるはずのない面影を探してしまいます。花火や朝顔を繰り返すサビは明るさを保っていますが、二度目には故郷への恋しさが加わり、祭り囃子が帰れない時間まで呼び寄せます。大勢の中で一人だけ過去に立ち止まる、その小さな苦笑いが別れの長さを伝えています。
