久しぶりの再会を巻き戻して語り直すような始まりから、未来を少しのぞきたいという願いへ進んでいく。前には気後れしていたと打ち明け、まず腰を下ろして話そうと誘うため、大きな理想も身近な相手との会話から立ち上がる。外すことを恐れて打たないシュートの比喩は、失敗の回避が機会そのものを失わせると示す。一方、周囲が変わり続けるときには、その場にとどまるだけでも努力が必要になる。動く側だけに負担があるわけではない、という見方の転換がここにある。
言葉を減らして一緒に演奏しようと促す一節も、考えることを放棄する勧めではない。そのすぐ後に、一音節ごとに本気で話しているという姿勢が置かれるからだ。約束を実行まで持っていくことと、言葉を信頼できるものにすることが結びつく。「君こそがメインの劇場」という呼びかけでは、未来は外から上映されるものではなく、自分たちが関わる場として捉え直される。先を知りたいという願いはあっても、あらかじめ用意された計画をなぞることが目的ではない。
