炎へ集まり、やがて朽ちる蝶と、相手の血へ回る毒牙が最初から並べられます。語り手は「蝮の娘」として寝首を狩る使命を教え込まれ、嫁いだ先の男を一突きで終わらせるつもりでした。ひょうたんを腰に巻き、罵詈雑言を口にする「大うつけ」なら簡単な標的に見える。しかし「毒牙が貴方の血に回る頃、あたしが欲しい？」という問いには、殺す側の余裕だけでなく、毒を持つ自分ごと求められたい気持ちが早くも混じっています。街が花開く光景と、凛と立つ首が同時に描かれ、繁栄と死が同じ「開花」の中で結ばれます。
