楽曲解説
疑いに満ちた行動、二度と戻らない人、擦れ落ちないマスカラ、止まらないエレベーターが、切迫した都市の一場面を作ります。捨て千切られた心が物語を複雑にし、逃げ切ってほしい人物と、それを追う罪と罰の気配が同居します。「Tourniquet」は血流を止める緊急処置であると同時に、過去との流れを断ち切る決断にも重なります。平常モードを脱ぎ、混濁した思考を抉って描くほど、冷静さの裏から嗤笑がこぼれます。
中盤では点滅する光、両耳への響き、近づけない電話、指をさされる予感が、外界からの刺激を脅威へ変えます。嫌いな友人から離れていれば良かったのかという問いにも答えはなく、擦過傷へ染みるレモンの酸のような痛みだけが具体的です。そこで「Breathe／Exhale」と呼吸を数え、感覚を現在へ戻します。最後の「sort it out」は問題が逃げる前に自分の手で整理する反復です。望む未来や生きる糧になるなら、痛みを避けるのではなく、呼吸しながら正面から扱うことを選んでいます。
