歌詞の意味
誰の目にも見えないところで、つながるより先に枝分かれが始まっている。成長点や芽、根といった植物を思わせる言葉が使われながら、その成長は健やかな広がりとしては語られません。分岐が連結に先んじ、断絶につながるものが育つため、増えていくことが孤立を深めることにもなっています。周囲が蠢きに気づかない間も、内側の動きは止まらない。その見えにくさが、孤独なアウトサイダーという言葉を支えています。
内なる芽はひび割れ、自我を滅ぼし、触れるたびに触手の形も変わります。ここには、決まった形の自分を保とうとしても、刺激を受けるたびに変化してしまう不安定さがあります。細胞質の迷路という表現によって、迷っている場所は外の社会だけでなく、自分を成り立たせている内側にまで入り込む。脳内の思考を示す英語と、生き物の増殖を思わせる言葉が重なるので、考えが次々に分かれて収まらなくなる状態としても読めます。思考が広がるほど出口も見つかりにくくなり、増殖は自分を強くする動きと、自分の輪郭を崩す動きを同時に持っています。
見えすぎるほどの視界と、暗闇を見通す視界が出てくる一方、名を持たず、悲しみを抱える存在という位置は変わりません。よく見えることが、そのまま理解されることや安心につながっていないのです。向き合うよう求める言葉も、制御できるという約束にはなっていません。最後には終わりのない断層へ根を下ろす。安定した土ではなく裂け目を足場にするため、居場所を得ることさえ普通の安定とは違う形になります。突き抜ける思考のあとにも孤独と悲しみが戻り、力強い変化と、その変化を引き受ける苦しさが並んだまま残ります。
