隴西の李徴は、博学才穎の「スーパーエリートルーキー」でありながら、年功序列も社交辞令もチームワークも無視する人物として登場します。仕事を辞め、詩人になり、メジャーになって富と名声を得る、と段階を勢いよく宣言しますが、歌は売れず飛ばずです。自信に満ちた横顔と結果の出ない現実の差が、獣へ身を落とすところまで一気に進みます。
